Audemars Piguet launches new 34mm black ceramic self-winding watch

January 2022, Brassus – To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak series, the Swiss luxury watch brand Audemars Piguet reinterprets the Royal Oak Royal Oak series 34mm automatic in black ceramic material. A chain watch model with new design details. The watch case design remains the same, with the black dial featuring a new design that will first appear in some of the 34, 37, 38 and 41mm models in the Royal Oak collection in 2022. In addition, the new watch is equipped with an exclusive automatic oscillating weight for the Anniversary Edition of the Royal Oak Royal Oak series.

The new Royal Oak Royal Oak 34mm black ceramic self-winding watch, equipped with the Royal Oak Royal Oak 50th Anniversary Edition exclusive automatic oscillating weight, more refined dial design

Similar to last year’s model, the new Royal Oak 34mm Automatic features a black “Grande Tapisserie” machine-engraved dial, contrasting with shimmering rose gold accents. The details of the dial have been updated, and this new design will be applied for the first time in 2022 in the Royal Oak series of 34, 37, 38 and 41 mm models.

The new Audemars Piguet Logo is made of 24K rose gold using electroplating generation technology (a chemical process similar to 3D printing). Each letter is only connected by a thin line about the thickness of a hair, set on the dial by hand, and fixed with tiny prongs that are barely visible to the naked eye. This long logo is located at 12 o’clock on the dial, and the “AP” abbreviation no longer appears, making it more visually streamlined.

While retaining the overall aesthetic of the Royal Oak collection, the size and length of the faceted hour-markers and hands on the dial have been adjusted to match the anniversary self-winding watches and self-winding chronographs of the series, ensuring readability. more clearly.

Black ceramic meets rose gold

Continuing the design of last year’s model, the black ceramic case and strap of the new watch are embellished with hexagonal screws made of 18K rose gold, which fasten the bezel to the case, and also constitute a subtle two-color contrast. All parts of the case and strap are alternately processed by Audemars Piguet’s signature satin-finished and polished chamfers, showing a rich light and shadow effect.

The design of the black ceramic strap has been fine-tuned to be more visually appealing. The pins connecting the links and the fixing pins are embedded directly inside and are no longer exposed on the side of the strap.

50th Anniversary Edition Exclusive Automatic Oscillating Weight

Through the sapphire crystal titanium case back, you can admire the delicate construction of the Calibre 5800 movement. The movement is equipped with an exclusive automatic oscillating weight made of 22K rose gold for the anniversary edition, engraved with the “50 YEARS” (50th anniversary) commemorative logo and the words AUDEMARS PIGUET. The tone of the automatic oscillating weight echoes the rose gold details of the watch, and is treated with alternating satin-finished, micro-bead blasted and polished chamfers for an elegant look.

In 2022, Audemars Piguet’s newly launched Royal Oak Royal Oak series anniversary edition watches will all be equipped with this 50th anniversary edition exclusive automatic oscillating weight.
